'nother semi-archived thread, enjoy the restart!
From Remus Lupin to Alexia Davies; written carefully in a time much too long for a letter of this length, never mind his speed-of-light handwriting. Luckily remained free of any chocolate stains because he wrote it in bed before breakfast. Delivered by a school owl he blackmailed with some of Hagrid's rock cake to bring it straight to the girls' dorm.
Dear Alexia,
I thought it was time you got a letter of a more friendly nature than the one of the previous night. We'll see how this one will do, since I am admittedly still a little sleepy (you see, there are rarely times I am not, must be the genes). Then again, we spent half the night up, so I think a certain weariness is allowed.
My hopes are that you feel better than yesterday. Maybe speaking it out really helps, who knows. If you need more chocolate to warm you up, taken you intend to spend more lonely nights in the owlery to which I am not invited, give me a sign. And this is a compliment, I don't usually share the chocolate. That sounds greedy... maybe greedy is what I am concerning chocolate.
Before I feel so much a fool for writing this that I won't send it and feed it to one of the school beasts instead, I will wrap it up now.
Remus
P.S. This is a school owl, so I have no idea what her temper is like. Picked the one with the bluntest looking beak.
Dear Remus
I must admit, it’s nice to be receiving a letter that isn’t warning me and telling me to hide from someone. Though when the owl you used flew in and landed on my bedpost, I immediately thought that it was a letter quite similar to last night’s. So you can imagine my relief when I found out it was from you.
And don’t worry, I don’t feel so thrilled to be up so early today, either. I’m not sure if I thanked you properly last night, or apologized for keeping you up, even. So thanks, and I’m sorry.
Well, I do have a soft spot for chocolate. I’ll keep that in mind for whenever I get depressed again. I’ll probably feel embarrassed for whatever’s in this letter later if I happen to bump into you later in the day, but my mind’s not fully awake yet to realize that I’ve been writing nonsense.
I have to write fast, owl’s not too happy that I’m taking my time in writing back.

Alexia-
sorry for scaring you there. If I had any I would use different paper so that you could tell what to open and what not to touch.
No need to do any of that, really, it was nice to talk to you and I would not hesitate following you into the tower again. I feel bad because we never really spoke before last night, and it feels as if we could have had some good conversations if only we had.
Your comment about chocolate just earned you about one hundred plus points with me. Unfortunately, I am writing this as I am having breakfast and trying to save my ink from my friends, so I cannot look for any chocolate to send to you right now. Maybe with the next letter.

Hey,
Don’t worry about that, no harm done.
I often see you talking with Lily, and now I’m regretting not trying to at least talk to you during those times. Well, it’s never too late, isn’t it? We’re talking now… if you can call this talking.
Oh, and apologies for the delay with this letter. I felt the urge to grab breakfast. And yeah, I saw you with Potter and the others. And now I’m back in my room, writing to you. I feel silly.
Lex
P.S. By the way, you can call me Lex or Lexie, you don’t have to stick with Alexia.

Lex,
that is a nice name. I would offer you a nickname too, but there's not much you can do when you're called Remus (no enthusiasm here). Maybe you know what my friends call me, but it would be weird if somebody else said it.
And yes, Lily and I are, I would say, pretty good friends. We had a lot of patrols and other duties together and thus had a lot of time to talk.
Don't worry about the delay. And why do you feel silly writing? I think this is actually nice. It's nice getting to know you. I'm not that good at talking. I'll stop now, my bed just collapsed for some reason (it probably has to do with the other inhabitants of this dorm).

I’m just not too fond of the name Alexia because – well, you know my father’s name. And I don’t want you unknowingly calling me by a name I don’t like. Acquaintances are exempted, of course. But with everything you know about me, I don’t think I can call you a mere acquaintance anymore. But that’s just me.
I just feel silly that I saw you at breakfast, but I didn’t talk to you. Honestly, every time I think about going up to you and just talking, there’s this awkward feeling. So it’s better that I just put this all in writing.
Surely, the beds there are just as sturdy as ours? But, then again, what you and your friends do are simply always unexpected. What do you think they did?

It's very understandable you would rather have me call you Lex, or Lexie. And I like the thought of being friends instead of acquaintances. After all you told me quite a lot I doubt you would tell your acquaintances, and understandably so. I am still surprised you told me, but also a little honored. It was a proof of trust.
Awkward feeling... I hope that's not because I behave weirdly. I don't mind if you'd rather stick to letters, although talking to you was nice in itself.
Well it looks as if they brought something which would have eaten through most of one of the posts, a rat or a large mouse, maybe. I will quest this. And now it started raining. I hope this letter makes it dryly enough for you to read.

Lex or Lexie, take your pick. You can even call me Davies, I won’t mind. Alright then. So I guess now, we’re friends.
And all that I told you last night, only one person knows about it aside from you. And even she knows less about it than you do. You can safely say that I trust you, which is kind of weird cause we only spoke to each other last night. But in some ways, I’m actually happy that you heard me in the Owlery.
Aw, you’re right. Bummer, I was planning on taking a walk by the lake. But I guess that’s out of the plans now. I’ll just go tomorrow or later this afternoon.
Well, what with the distance this letter would travel from your window to mine, it’s no surprise that it survived the rain.
Lex
P.S. Yeah, if you were wondering why the owl was different, I sent this with my owl (my cat died last summer so I had to get a new pet) since the one we were using didn’t seem too thrilled to be delivering letters from one window to another while it was raining.

Lex,
I don't think I will call you Davies, unless we'd get in a fight. I don't really like calling people by their surnames. Even when the Professors call me Mr Lupin it's still weird, because I think that's my Dad (and he's mentally ill which doesn't exactly make it more pleasant being called the same way people call him).
Woah, can you tell I just told you something personal? Now isn't that something. I am a very distrustful person, really, but it felt unfair upon reading your last letter that you trusted me so much, and all I told you was, well, what did I even tell you? So now I will try to trust you with more.
The lake is nice in the rain, too, though.
... not that I went... or anything. Sorry for the wet ink.
-M
P.S. You are lucky, my father keeps an army of Kneazles, meaning no owl in their right mind ever comes closer to our house than sitting on my windowsill (no kneazles in my room). So we don't have an owl.

Ooh, a fight. I’ve been in too many to want more, though. Yeah, my surname reminds me of my dad too. Which is why if I could change it, I would. But the only chance I’d get on changing it was if I got married.. So I guess I’m stuck with this last name for a long, long time.
You don’t have to tell me stuff if you don’t want to. I don’t see it as unfair. I trust you, but it really isn’t necessary that you trust me as well. But if you do, then… yay? But seriously, don’t pressure yourself into thinking that you need to tell me something personal. Just getting to know you would be nice.
I’m not in the mood to get wet under the rain today. And besides, walking in the rain alone is kinda depressing, don’t you think?
-Lex

Don't worry, it's really hard to start a fight with me. I'll usually keep calm. Well, now that you say it, I think I really shouldn't complain. And was that a categorial "no" to marriage? Or just you being pessimistic about finding a husband?
It's fine, I don't like not trusting people. I am just, well, a coward, I guess. And if you want to get to know me, and I know I want to get to know you, it's better if I tell you some things.
Depressing? No.. I like the day, never mind the weather. I don't like nights. Nights are depressing to me.
-M

I really don't want picking a fight with a friend. I don't have much of those, so it'd be too bad if I lost one. Oh, and that was me being pessimistic.
There's not much to me, aside from what you found out yesterday. And, yeah, if you think that's best.
It's just with rain though. I love being outside when it's sunny. I'm not too fond of the night, either...
Ugh, I just saw the pile of homework in my bag. I keep putting it off, then I regret it.
-Lex

Oh, yes. Same here. And you shouldn't be pessimistic, somewhen you will meet somebody you really love. And they'll love you, and however that goes on.
So you're a sunshine lover? The sun is nice. It's not so cold. I wish it was still summer, but then again, we'd not be at Hogwarts. Which wouldn't be good, from my point of view.
Piles of homework are never good. I get those, too, sometimes. It's sometimes hard to sit down and start when you think "this will take hours, then I get the next pile", right? But then again one has to keep up and I don't like not knowing what's going on, so I usually try to work everything down as quickly as possible. Except for potions, because with potions and me there is no such thing as "quick".
I talk about homework way too much.

Love, huh? Sounds complicated... and for me, it's impossible. Just because.
The cold's nice too, don't get me wrong. But it's better if you have someone wto spend the cold nights with. Erm, that was a joke.
I wish I shared your enthusiasm for homework. Maybe then I wouldn't get piled up with so much of it. I just take one look at it and think that I can do it some other time since it's not due for another few days. But then it piles up at the foot of my bed. If only they could be done with something as simple as a glance, I wouldn't mind doing homework.

I'm not really acquainted with it myself. Only wanted to build you up.
I don't like the cold, I like wearing lots of clothes and having five covers. So even if somebody spent the night, they'd get to sleep against a lot of fabric. Too bad.
Enthusiasm? Not really. I don't enjoy it, I just have to work a lot. Well, if you need anything for your homework to get you started, I think you could just ask Lily or me. I already share my notes with the complete dorm, so I don't mind giving you any, either.

The more I know about you, the more we seem to have in common. And I'm guessing that it's a good thing?
I don't like it when it gets too cold, like full-out snowing. Hmm, don't be so sure. Some people might find that cozy, for reasons only they know.
Well, as far as I can see, you don't have much difficulty with it. Must be hard to practically do the homework of four people. I'm not sure Lily minds helping me, but I can't ask for her help during NEWTs, so I might as well try to study by myself.

Yes, seems like we do. And it can't be a bad thing with friends.
Oh, yes, snow. Well. It's fun when you've got the right clothing, but I still manage to catch about three colds every time it snows. Cozy? Well.. maybe if they are a bed fetishist.
Well, I technically do not do theirs. I only let them look at mine. I wouldn't have the time or nerves to write more even if I tried. And if you don't want to ask Lily for those honorable reasons listed, feel free to pick up anything from me if needed. You know, the door isn't so far away, and if you feel awkward again, I'll make sure to hand it over mutely.

Nope, I don't think it is.
Oh, too bad. You need to watch your health especially in the winter, then.
You let them look at yours? You'll be surprised how a person's photographic memory skills kick in when they most need it.
Mutely, huh? How are you going to know what I need, then? Hmm, I'll hand over a note, maybe.
This year has just started and it already feels like it's going to be torture. Professors seem to like to remind us that this is our final year. As if I need reminding.
-Lex
I am always told that, and I always fail.
Well, yes, but I don't really mind if they copy it. They're doing a lot for me, too. I just won't write it down for them.
Or we could become legilimens, and we could read each other's mind. That way, there would never be any awkward moments void of talk.
Yes, I know what you mean. I'm not really thrilled it's our last year. Besides, we'e going to have another of those rediculous talks with McGonagall in which she asks us what we want to do, then tells us what kind of astronomic grades we need for those careers. Not thrilled.
-M

I'll just have to make sure that you won't get sick. If you do, I'm back to my silent, uneventful days.
They have to at least make the effort of writing it down. That way, they can say that they did the work at some point.
Sounds like a great idea, but it would definitely freak out anyone who saw us. Although the prospect of mind-reading appeals to me. Not in the freaky, scary way.
I have no idea what I'm going to do after Hogwarts, do you? Maybe the muggle world needs someone like me...
-Lex

It's a lost cause. Just saying, so that you're not too disappointed. But I'll usually still be able to write, if you can call that eventful.
Yes, and I think it wouldn't take long for Professors to notice if every 7th year boy suddenly had the same handwriting.
It sounds interesting, doesn't it? But I bet you would get to know a lot about people which you would rather never have found out about.
Well, no. To be honest, I thought about being a Professor, but that is kind of out of the question right now.
-M

If it helps, your letters are the highlight of my day.
And I can imagine it would be hard for anyone, even for someone as smart as you, to think up different ways to word an essay four times to not make it seem alike.
Now you're just making me curious. There are a lot of people whose thoughts I'd like to know about. Especially when they're not-so-nice thoughts about me. Not that I care, it's just fun to know how people care so much.
Why not? I think you'd make a great teacher, honestly.
-Lex

Wow, that was a very nice thing to say.
And yes, that would be hard. And a real bother, too. Most of all Sirius and James really are much more talented than me, so there is no need to work for them to the extend of even writing.
Well, usually people tell me their not-so-nice thoughts. And then I wish I never knew. So no legilimency for me after all.
My home and health situation doesn't look like it's going to allow me anything like a career anytime soon, to be honest. It's not exactly a nice prospect, but maybe I am lucky and things change at some point. Then I could still try to become a teacher.

Bit of advice, you better get used to my compliments. I tend to dish out a lot of them to people. The only difference with you is you won't have to worry about lack of sincerity.
Do you think they'd ever do their own work one of these days? As in they won't ask you a single question?
... If I were you, I'd tell them to shut up. And to keep their opinions to themselves.
Don't worry, once I learn how to be a legilimens, I'll find out their thoughts about you, and I'll tell you those that won't you feel bad. How does that sound?
Well, I do hope you can become a teacher. Your students should realize how lucky they are.

Alright then, I will try to pretend I don't have a flushed face when I read them.
I wouldn't expect them to. They could of course, maybe with the exception of Peter.
Telling them to shut up is what my friends are good at, actually. I try to just ignore it. And that sounds like fun, tell me when you found out how to do it, will you?
I hope so, too, it would be the nicest job I could imagine. Also, being financially independent would be very nice, don't you think?
-M
P.S. I fed your owl some cake. It seemed a little exhausted. Is it a he or a she by the way?

Doesn't matter. I can't see you, remember? And I won't be able to unless I lose the awkward feeling, so I don't think it'll be anytime soon. If you catch me in the Owlery again, I might talk...
Learning it might require a few nights in the library, I guess I'd be able to handle that.
I can never see myself as a teacher. You, on the other hand, have much experience with your friends already. Yeah, that'll be nice.
-Lex
P.s. You're spoiling her. She's looking at me in a way that says I'd better seal this letter fast so she can get back to you.
Oh, and, I'll be back in a few hours. My sister wants to have lunch with me and will probably drag me off somewhere.

And the Owlery is such a magical place of oral correspondance, why again?
I suggest the restricted section. I will take points if you go to the bad, forbidden restricted section!
I'm not sure if letting them copy homework counts as a teacher, but I used to help out some Muggle kids in the summer holidays, and it was a great fun.

P.S. She's a sweetheart, she's actually sitting on my lap and happily picking at a hole in my jeans (no complaints).
I'm not sure if letting them copy homework counts as a teacher, but I used to help out some Muggle kids in the summer holidays, and it was a great fun.
-M

It stopped raining, that's good news. I should have remembered one thing before going with my sister. Her favorite place is the library.
I did what you said, and checked out a few books from the restricted section library. (I wasn't even going to stray near that section, if you didn't suggest it.)
Aw, that is just so sweet of you. A lot of wizards couldn't care less about Muggles.
If you're getting sleepy, let me know.
-Lex
P.S. I sent this with a school owl when I passed by the Owlery. You can send this back with my owl, if she's still there with you.

That is good news, and you are supposed to be happy I wasn't in the library, because you would have felt awkward. Luckily the common room was more appealing today.
What, you fell for my crossed out suggestion? Frailty, thy name is, woman. (What did you find out?)
Actually, my maternal grandparents were both Muggles, and they were the nicest pair. I really don't know what some wizards have against them, they are much more inventive than us magical folk in so many ways.
If I get sleepy, I'll probably just fall asleep accidentally.
-M
P.S. Yes, she is. I think she really liked it here.

I feel horrible for being happy that you weren't at the same place as me.
Next time, then, if you cross something out, be sure to make it unreadable. I didn't find out much, I saw a few more interesting books in there. I'm sure there are Legilimency books outside the restricted section.
If you have something against Muggles, you have something against me. But you don't, so we're good. When I'm out of Hogwarts, I'm a Muggle.
Quick question, are wolves from the Muggle world similar to those in the wizarding world?
-Lex
P.S. Aw, no. Now she really won't leave your side. That's better I guess, having an owl who's more than willing to deliver letters to a certain person.

That's fine. I feel horrible for not being in the same place as you.
Maybe I didn't want to make it unreadable? (I should be in Slytherin.. wait, no, not rich enough).
Why do you want to live without magic? It seems odd to simply let the gift go to waste, I think.
Wolves? Is that about the 'more interesting books'?
And to answer your question, it depends if you are talking werewolves or simple wolves, and less if they are part of either world. Werewolves also exist in the Muggle world, but usually the bitten Muggles don't survive, so they are associated with wizards and witches. And there are a few differences between normal wolves and werewolves (the most important one being that the latter would probably try to eat you, I guess).
Sorry for writing so much, but I used to practically suck up books about dark creatures and defense. I hope I don't sound creepy.

Well, we're both in Gryffindor tower right now. Does that count?
Hmm, so you really wanted me to go to the restricted section? Tsk, tsk. And you're supposed to be a prefect and keep others away from trouble. Oh well, if anyone catches me, I'm blaming you.
Not that I want to be a Muggle. It's just that I live in a place where there is no wizard to be found within a mile radius. Mum's a Muggle, so I'm used to living without magic for the summer holidays. It's not that bad, in my opinion.
I like wolves. And since the werewolf is a human for a longer time, I'll be able to talk to them. And probably the stupidest thing I'll ever do is approach a werewolf, and try to tame it. ( I know, stupid. I'll probably get eaten first, like you said)
It's okay, I find that subject interesting. So the more you talk about it, the more you keep me interested.
-Lex

Not really, I wanted to be a bother and make you feel awkward, so that you can try your new legilimentic skills.
Nobody will believe you! Oh.. yes they will.
No, not bad, but you could have it easier. And you can always move if you would like more wizards around, but it doesn't sound like you do, somehow.
Well yes, they are part-time human. But I wonder if they would be happy if you asked them for information about being a wolf, the literature says it's rather painful to transform for them. And the society shuns them a lot.
And yes. That would probaby be the most stupid, and last thing you did in your life, both at the same time.
I like creatures, too. I only don't like how they get treated most of the time.
-M

Legilimentic skills? And you're intentionally making me feel awkward? It's easy to hide, I doubt you can know what part of the castle I'm in at a certain time of day.
I can make them believe me. But if Lily catches me... she'll let me off even without a warning.
Mum doesn't want to move, sadly. She says she'll feel left out if we move to a wizarding community. More so when my sister and I are at Hogwarts.
People are so judgmental. I'm sure not one of those werewolves chose to become one. It looks painful, I don't want to know how that feels like.
If ever I plan to do it, I'll be sure to say my goodbyes to you. If I still write back, I came back as a ghost.
-Lex

Now you're just underestimating my knowledge about the castle. Marauders, remember? I bet I could find you.
Well, that's what I do with the three guys. Besides, if I had taken points for everything I witnessed them do, Gryffindor would never come out of the minus again. And I don't like taking points generally, except if somebody thinks they have to be violent or otherwise show impossible behaviour.
That sounds reasonable, but you won't have to live at hers after Hogwarts, right? I mean, unless you want to.
People are probably scared. And, well, if anybody chose, they must be a little deranged, that would be a kind of masochism, right? Though when I think about Greyback (is in the prophet from time to time), he seems kind of happy about it, in a creepy way.
And yes it does seem painful. You made me look at my books again, there's a magical photograph of a transformation and this guy is screaming his lungs out at me. I hope the person who took the picture knew how to disapparate.
That's good, because when you try to say goodbye I'll make sure not to let you go anywhere on full moon nights.
-M
P.S. Sorry for not replying yesterday night, but it seems like I actually predicted it and simply fell asleep. I'll see you (and try to avoid awkwardness) at breakfast.

What does knowledge about the castle have to do with being a Marauder? I'll take that challenge. It's the weekend tomorrow, I'll bet you won't find me anywhere.
I know the feeling when it's your friend who has the authority to take points off. You get away with practically anything. Must be such a perk for troublemakers like your two friends. ( I don't usually see Peter when Potter and Black do something.. unexpected )
Nope, I probably won't stay at her place. If I get a job, I'll get a place nearby. Where I can at least speak to other witches and wizards.
Ooh, that's one person I wouldn't want to meet anywhere. Greyback. Even his name sends chills down my spine. I mean, yeah I love wolves, but he's just... wrong.
Hey, I never told you to look at your books. I just said it LOOKS painful. And why do you have those kind of books? I couldn't find anything on the transformation yesterday at the library.
Hmm, then would you rather I not say goodbye? By the way, when's the full moon?
-Lex
P.S. Well, I saw you at breakfast. I don't know if you saw me. But I still didn't say anything. I still call that an improvement.

It does, after all we probably have to disappear from Filch more often than everybody else combined... and fine. What besides awkward feelings is in the game, taken I find you?
I think they found out that they're lucky soon after laughing their heads off at me. And Peter usually is close by, he's just not the one who would like being at the front.
That sounds nice. So no Muggle life after all?
No, I doubt anybody wants to meet him. He's the one the category of dark creature goes perfectly with.
But you made me remember I had the books! And I have them because I want to be a teacher, remember? It's what I do. If anything, my area of expertise would be defense and dark creatures.
No, I would rather you keep away from werewolves. And it's actually only two days away, it was already almost full last night.
-M
P.S. I regret that, because I almost fell asleep over my cereal and probably looked like a zombie. And yes I did see you, and I smiled, but you didn't look then. Which is alright.

I'll try to rid myself of the awkwardness if you find me. You think that's worth a weekend?
Do you join in on their pranks? Erm, cause I was there with Lily by the lake after our DADA OWL exam. Which is why I have to say that I didn't hate you as much as I did with Potter and Black. Well, I hated them for a few days. Then I saw that what they did was actually for the better, since Snape showed his true colors and all that by calling Lily... you know.
Nah. I prefer a life with magic... Much more exciting, if you ask me.
I don't even want to know where you got those books. They're not even in the restricted section. Oh, I might as well be calling you Professor Lupin by now, just to get you used to it.
Two days away? Cool, I don't have any plans for that day. There are rumors in Hogsmeade, I might check it out. If I don't write back in three days, assume the worst. ^_^
-Lex
P.S. One of these days, I'll probably talk to you. Or tomorrow, IF you find me.

A weekend? I'll be fifteen minutes, Davies.
Pranks, yes. Bullying, no. But I must say that I have a deep dislike against Severus since the day he called Lily that particular insult. But since he openly hates me, it's not a problem.
And enchanting. (Yeah haha, no, not funny, I know. I am trying.)
You can buy them at any good wizard book shop. The school only doesn't want to be responsible for students getting too intrigued by all this. And Professor Lupin sounds even worse than Mr Lupin, but I guess I would really need to get used to it.
Hogsmeade rumors? You mean about the ghosts? Well, I don't think a ghost bite would harm you, so no worries about that, but I doubt it's a good idea to sneak out at night at all these times. Death Eaters and all.
-M
P.S. I will find you, mind my words.

Fifteen minutes, huh? This'll only be inside the castle, right?
I think I only liked Sev because of Lily. But after that day, I could freely say I hated him. Ooh, mutual hate. What a wonderful relationship.
Don't worry. I laughed.
You mean the school doesn't want to be responsible for people like me who go off in search of a werewolf? I can just imagine little kids going up to you, asking about an essay you assigned.
I'm not sure ghosts bite in the first place. And, no, I'm not going into the Shrieking Shack.. if that's what you're thinking. I'm more of an exploring-the-forest girl. I found a unicorn the other week. And I'm not sneaking out, I asked permission from a prefect.
-Lex
P.S. Don't be so sure yet.

Yes, the castle.
Oh yes, we are all flowers and it's so nice. And the glances of hate. I enjoy them so much.
I nwish I had my window open so that I could have heard you laugh, because I don't believe you.
Well, yes, exactly that. And I would like that. Children are amazing. They do all kinds of crazy, phantastic things without even thinking twice.
Exploring the forest? And that's supposed to be a better idea, at night, not knowing who or what is in there? You are a daredevil, Lex.
-M

Goodluck to you then.
Your letter is dripping with sarcasm, Remus. Or, at least that sentence is.
Alright, fine. I didn't laugh cause I was alone, and that would seem weird. I smiled. There.
Aww. I love kids. I take care of some of the kids in our neighborhood during the summer. Now you're making me miss them.
Hey, life isn't fun when you know exactly what to expect. It's boring. And I like surprises. I take it that 'You are a daredevil' is a compliment?
-Lex

Good luck to you, too.
Sarcasm? I am incapable of such a thing.
A smile. That will do. And you owed me one from breakfast. So we are good again.
You could always go down to the common room and help out some first years, you know they're still really scared and excited about most things here.
Well, if the surprise is something or somebody who wants your guts, I could really relinquish, unless somebody else needed help. I'm not sure. Is it a compliment? Is it a plea? Will it ever be figured out?
-M
So you think that me talking to you when you find me is worth it?
Really? Though I can't believe you'd actually enjoy fleeting glances of hate.
Next time, be sure I'm looking before you smile at me. I might smile back or wave. Depends on my mood, you never know.
Reminds me when I was a first year. I guess excited is a way to put it, though I was a bit unlucky with roommates, not including Lily.
I may need the help one of these days. You want to come on one of my forest explorations? You might just save my life; I've been in a few close brushes with death. A plea? Hmm.
-Lex

Definitely. I'd go to lengths to talk to a friend.
Haha. Fleeting glances.. now you had me laughing.
Looking forward to that smile or wave, then.
Oh, you don't get along well with Helen Birch, right? Well, I can gladly say I was really lucky with my lot. As long as I close my eyes at the mess that is this dorm.
I suggest you stay inside then, because I am certainly not going anywhere this weekend which is further away than where I find you. I can feel the germs eat at my insides already.

Somehow, I'm hoping you'll find me... But that doesn't mean I'm going to make it easy for you. Still expect a challenge.
You really laughed? My window's open but I didn't hear anything. Hmm.
I could give you one right now. Too bad you can't see it, though.
Nah, she hates me. I'm wondering if the men's dorm is any different from ours.
I'm not leaving the castle this weekend. I'm doing a bit more research on werewolves.
-Lex

Well, I am happy to hear that you actually want to talk to me. I was starting to worry.
That's because I am hoarse, Ma'am.
It really is too bad, but you are always invited to visit me. And pick up some homework, or chocolate, or your owl.
Any idea why she hates you? And it is. It looks like somebody put a dozen Nifflers in here. Actually, I'll get up and try to tidy it a little right now.
You really are intrigued by werewolves, it seems.

Why wouldn't I want to talk to you? You're actually fun to talk to... or write to. Whichever.
Oh, that makes sense, then. Hmm, I guess you can just come to me for anything that involves your health. Mum's a nurse. A Healer for us magic folk. I don't know anything about medicine, but I can always ask her.
Just... send her away if she bothers you. Do you really think I can just get up from this chair in front of the fire and simply knock on your door?
Nope, no idea. Goodluck. I hope your friends know how lucky they are to have a roommate like you.
Something about them just appeals to me. I've only seen a wolf once, and it's the human part of the werewolf that I'm interested in. I mean, you can't talk to a wolf, obviously..
-Lex

Because you said you feel awkward. I thought that counts as not wanting to talk to me, to be honest.
That's a nice offer, but I already made good friends with Poppy Pomfrey, who likes to hand out her own medicine. (Not really friends, it's more like a forced get-together. But she's okay.) And right now I am okay, just not loud and not thrilled about cleaning this room.
She doesn't bother me in the least, she's all friendly and hooting. I just thought you'd have a right to pick her up. And yes, you could. Girls are allowed in here.
Well, I guess you could talk to an ordinary wolf, but it would probably just stare and wonder whether you are pray or not, huh?
-M

If I didn't want to talk to you, I wouldn't feel awkward just thinking of talking to you. Well, now you know.
She just knows me from the one time I ended up there afterone of my forest excursions something happened to me. Then it's better that we're speaking to each other silently, through letters. You don't need to talk at all.
Yeah, I've heard girls are allowed there. But it's the awkwardness, remember? So if you want me to lose it, you better do good tomorrow. I promise, I'll try to lose the awkward feeling..
Luckily, it won't see me as prey. I'm practically skin and bones.. well, not really, but I'm not fat. >.> I wish I could find something to tame a wolf... Oh, yay. Another thing to do research on.
Just continue your cleaning and tidying up, I have to return these books to the library and check out a few more. This is all your fault, I never spent so much time in the library before. Even Lily wasn't able to keep me in there for more than a few hours. And now I'm willingly going there.

She just knows me from the one time I ended up there after
Yeah, I've heard girls are allowed there.
-Lex
So you feel awkward because you want to talk to me, but you end up walking away? (Not complaining, I enjoy the letter correspondence).
Something happened to you in the forest? That sounds quite serious. Was it the same night you found the unicorn in? And yes, well, I'll still try to talk to you tomorrow, and later in afternoon classes. Sounding like a chain smoker. Might result in another fleeting glance of spite from Severus! A dream come true.
Don't worry about it, Lexie. Whatever it is, I will try not to notice if it's there tomorrow. And I hope very much that you mean 'losing it' in a positive way.
You know, predators actually go for the thin, weak prey, not the bulky muscles or well-fed. And yes, you are quite skinny (I took it you wanted me to confirm that). But it's looking good on you. And if there was a way to tame one, don't you think somebody would have forced a collar onto Greyback yet?
I am done now, ended up using magic and sending their belongings to what I think are the right drawers. And now I am looking for my essay for the first afternoon class which vanished with their belongings, and which I really need because I have not got any time to redo it.
And your new affinity for the library really makes me part happy and part scared for your health.

So I found a few more books. And I prefer not to disclose how I got in the restricted section in the first place; it’s safer to say it personally rather than in writing. There have been a number of attempts on creating a cure for lycanthropy, and honestly, I’m sick of reading about how they tried and failed. How bout they just write about it when they’re actually successful. It makes reading worth it.
There’s this interesting potion, though. I don’t know why, but I find it a bit funny. It renders the werewolf mute if he/she drinks the potion an hour before the transformation. It’s the werewolf’s advantage, I guess. He won’t be able to make a sound when sneaking up on a prey…
I talk too much about werewolves. Sorry.
Yes, I think. But now I don’t think I’ll walk away when I see you. Don’t ask how I know; I have no idea.
The unicorn encounter was the safest by far. I don’t remember what happened that night, but the next morning I was in the Hospital Wing, and I couldn’t feel my right leg. It was probably so horrible that they chose to put a Memory Charm on me so I wouldn’t remember. Well, now I don’t know what I’m supposed to be scared of in the forest.
And this is you scaring me into eating more? I would have, if I had a collar…
They probably took your essay, trying to finish theirs at the last-minute… By some miracle, I did it last night. And yes, I’m surprised.
Why? Is there anything in the library that threatens my existence in this world? Something might be lurking in the shadowed aisles. Haha

Sometimes failure is all people can report. I still think it's admirable that some potion- and spellmasters spend so much time trying to help, not only with lycanthropy but a lot of other curses and diseases, too.
Well, I guess the person inventing that potion was sick of screams and howling. Poor werewolf, can't even call his mates.
You do. But never mind. I told you I'm into creatures.
You remain a mystery, my dear, but it is much more interesting that way.
But at least you still have the leg, and you should know better than to go wandering into the forest again at night, and alone.
No, I am just being honest. And I believe you eat enough, at least I see you at the meals, unlike Lily when it's exam time. And it would be hypocritical of me to tell somebody to gain weight.
I am very happy to hear that. And maybe they did, but that's not good for me. I tried to Accio it, but nothing happened. So either I turned into a squib, or the essay is somewhere out of reach, both of wich would result in failing the task.
Something or somebody. Watch out.
-M
P.S.: Found the essay, it was stuck between somebody else's books. This means I am a squib, then, I assume. I will just pretend the books on top were so heavy that it had no chance to be summoned. Either way, class in a few minutes, see you there.

But it would be nice to read about success once in a while. They just give me false hopes, to be honest. But yeah, if I was smart enough, I’d try to do research and probably find a cure. But trust me, I don’t have the patience for it.
Maybe his intention was to cure it; I can’t imagine someone spending so much time inventing a potion that will prevent the werewolf from making a sound..
Don’t worry, I won’t talk about werewolves. I don’t want to bore you too much.
I only remember that I strayed off the forest path that night. I stick to the path now, though. I believe it’s less dangerous that way.
I try to make her come with me at meals when it’s exam week, but I guess my persuading skills are poor. I’ve never talked anyone into anything, now that I think about it.
Would that somebody possibly be you? That’s safe, I guess. We can’t talk in the library.
-Lex
P.S. Well, DADA was fun today. If you could call it that. I dozed off at the last half of the hour, though. Luckily, I was at the back of the class.

Why hope? Are you secretly a werewolf needing a cure? Or do you simply feel so sorry for those infected?
No, he probably wanted to cure it. I was only trying to make the subject sound less gloomy.
I belief if something really wanted to kill you, it won't care whether you are on a path or not.
When it comes to Lily, I think it's quite hard for anybody to talk her into doing something. Once you manage to make her do something good for herself, you ought to be really proud.
I was thinking of Madam Pince, honestly, but the thought of creeping up on you between two rows is quite amusing. Thanks for the idea.
-M
P.S. I noticed. I tried to stay awake very hard so I turned to see what you're doing, and there you were, less awake even. You were not helping, Miss.

Oh, gosh. Now you know my secret. Haha.
Nah, I guess I just feel sorry for them. Like you said, the transformation every month is painful, I wouldn’t wish that on anyone..
Your convincing powers are kicking in. I’m honestly getting a bit scared now. Not scared enough to not go on this weekend’s planned trip. You’ll have to try harder.
But you won’t have any difficulty in telling Lily to study. She does that without being told. She does it too much that she forgets to eat and/or sleep, as well.
I’ll keep my guard up when I’m in the library, then. And Madam Pince, I can handle. My technique is running away faster than she can throw a book at me.
-Lex
P.S. Ah, so you’re sneaking glances at me? It’s hard to stay awake when there’s no wand action going on and it’s just the lecture. You should have poked me awake, then. I’m very ticklish, though, mind you.

Won't tell anybody.
No, me neither. It is still surprising that you do not have any prejudices, I mean you are a very nice and sympathetic person, but the ministry and the news are not very friendly towards the other creatures.
If you go and get eaten, I'll die a death of loneliness by a sickbed maimed with mouse teeth. And nobody there to write to me. Doesn't that sound too cruel?
That's like telling Sirius and James to plan more mischief. It's in their blood just like studying is in Lily's.
Ah yes, I know that technique! You'd think she wouldn't dare to throw her precious books. Probably always carries the least valuable one of the library around in case she has to hunt somebody down.
-M
P.S. Fleeting glances, even. But not of hate. Those are for Severus only, I am afraid. And I could not have poked you, you were not exactly in reach. But I will consider using rictusempra next time.

So that’s my excuse for having too much of a normal person’s interest in wolves. What’s yours?
Then I might consider taking over the Ministry, in my free time. And make them see sense. Like I said, I’m sure it wasn’t their choice to get bitten and suffer once a month during the full moon.
Yes, very cruel. Now we can’t have that, can we? You’re lucky today, I decided not to go and get myself killed this weekend.Think of something else to tell me next week so I won’t go off to the forest again. Whenever I’m tempted to go exploring again, I’ll think of what you just said. Since it drove me insanely guilty for some reason.
Yeah, those books being the ones that date back fifty years ago.
-Lex
P.S. Now I wish I didn't sleep during class. Oh, I understand. ‘Fleeting glances of hate’ are reserved only for Sev. Aaand, I shouldn’t have told you I was ticklish. >.<

Because I like canines? No idea, honestly.
I wish you would, some people at the Ministry need a brain wash. Especially that Dolores Umbridge.
I hope next week I will be fine again so that I can simply keep you from 'exploring'. I am not very good at thinking of excuses.
Where they still classify horses as unicorns. Very nice.
-M
P.S. Yes. We can never have what Sev and I do. Sorry. And I am much too contact-shy to dare tickle you with my hands, no worries.

My dad works at the Ministry, and I couldn’t agree with you more. Umbridge? Isn’t she the Head of the Werewolf Registry or something? Or am I thinking of someone else?
You might have to use a certain distraction. But if you say things similar to what you previously said, you won’t have difficulty restraining me.
I’d like a pet unicorn. Haha, sorry. That was kinda random.
-Lex
P.S. Sev must be so lucky. Well, there’s rictusempra. They have a spell for everything, which is scary, if you think about it.

My father used to work there too, then he figured out they're a bunch of cowards and quit. I'm a little proud of him.
And yes, she is.
I am out of words and full of sleep for tonight. Are you sure you don't want to visit over here? If not I'll just need to be happy amusing your owl. Whom I really love by now, by the way.
Haha. Pet unicorns are probably very cool, I mean maybe they would lose their shy demeanor when they get to know you well enough. Then again, it would not be nice to lock something like a unicorn up.
-M
P.S. It's more worrying they have a tickling spell, but not enough cures for all the curses...
