She good at herbology, it was one of her better subjects but she absolutely hated essays. She could never string together enough thoughts to write one fully or well. Picking up an especially old looking book from her pile on the floor, Zara placed it on the table and flipped about it until she came to the page she was looking for. As she read, her fingers ran down the pages, taking in the feeling of soft sandpaper. Atropa belladonna, more commonly known as Deadly Nightshade, is a deadly toxin. It has been recorded to be used by Belladona's (beautiful woman) to dilate their pupils. But it is more commonly used as a poison because every part of the plant is toxic. Never taking her grey eyes from the book’s worn page, she picked up her quill and copied it down what she had just read onto her parchment. So maybe she wasn’t actually writing it herself but if she took pieces from the five books she had chosen she doubted her professor would even notice, or at least, she hoped so. Zara smiled and found another section and continued writing, doing so with the other books the girl had pulled. Slowly leaning back, Zara closed her eyes and rubbed them, careful not the smear the already completely smeared thick purple eyeliner. Her hair had fallen out of its hair tie and was perched over her left shoulder. She let out a sigh and looked towards the ceiling and started twirling her wrists to work out the cramps that the writing had worked into them. Years before Zara had memorized the details on the ceiling of the library having had hidden there when she was younger and couldn’t take the jokes about being raised as a muggle. Now it just reminded her of a weakness she no longer showed, she now spent little to no time in the library, having found it best to pretend she had never hid there. Footsteps behind her had Zara sitting up straight in surprise, not having noticed anyone in the library with her. She turned her head and glared, voicelessly telling the person to quiet his or hers footsteps. When the footsteps continues Zara gave a loud, annoyed sigh and left the library, quill and parchment in hand and books left on the table, she left for the courtyard. The courtyard was empty, well, except for a few first year Hufflepuffs dotting away on something but Zara wasn’t too keen on counting them as someone’s. She set her quill and parchment down with a rock on top of both and toppled to the ground, laying on her back and staring at the clouds and dimming blue sky.

THIS PLACE INSIDE MY MIND A PLACE I LIKE TO HIDE The library was sometimes just the place to be if you didn't have much time to do your work. One of those persons, the ones with a lack of time, just spilled their ink, cursing and attracting the attention of Madam Pince. As she yelled at the Hufflepuff student while he tried to save his essay, some fourth-year girls laughed. This is not the kind of quiet I wanted. A pair of birght amber eyes rolled, and Remus Lupin got up from his place way back in the library. The collegue with the ink had been really unfortunate, for Moony knew too well the wrath of the school's librarian. Irma Pince was still talking aggressively to the other student as Remus passed them, and he flicked his wand at one of the ink spots to help the poor boy out, who was cleaning the spots one after the other.
As soon as he was out of the library, the voice of the librarian died out behind the heavy wooden door. However, he had not finished his work, and it felt like it would be hours yet. A mild breeze of autumn wind carried a few colourful leaves his way from the stone anchor that opened up to the courtyard just a few feet away. Goosebumps erupted on the werewolf's pale skin as he thought about finishing his work in the open. Well, some oxygen was never a bad thing. He pulled his scarf closer - actually, James' scarf, since his only one had fallen apart a few days ago - and turned to the open. There were few students in the courtyard: Hufflepuff firsties and a Slytherin seventh year, who, and he was pretty sure of this, was called Zara. They had had classes before, being in the same year.
Averting his eyes as fast as possible from any of the persons, Moony settled with his back against one of the solid Merpeople statues that seamed the cobbled round place. He was not very comfortable as he wrote here, but the other choice was to walk back all the way to the common room - and if any of his friends were there, he would never finish this in time.

The ground was rough, and most likely staining her clothes with dirt and grass but Zara just couldn't bring herself to care. She felt there wasn't a point to caring about much as a wizard since magic could just fix it. She felt it was pointless to pretend like the clothes were ruined, and a little ware and tare only made things better. The newer the worse they looked in her opinion.
Slowly, after looking back at her essay to make sure it was in place, she rolled over onto her side and closed her eyes, blocking out the fading rays of the dying sun and to try and pretend it wasn't as cold out even though she had on her cloak. Zara would say people were wrong if they said the cloak was thick, it was too damn thin in her opinion. Again Zara rolled over to find a more comfortable position and landed on her belly only looking up to see a figure sitting a little ways away from herself. A Gryffindor, she knew this, and the smart Marauder. They had classes together... What was his name? Loup? No...
"Lupin, something or other." Zara said to herself, watching him closely with a stalker like stare. Slowly she stood up, watching him for any reaction to hex her and she started over to him, she was bored and he looked lonely in her opinion. Once she was in arms length of the brown haired boy, she knelt down and looked at him. "You're Lupin right?"

THIS PLACE INSIDE MY MIND A PLACE I LIKE TO HIDE Somebody was kneeling in front of him, now. That was quite odd. Why would you just kneel on cold stone and-- Remus stopped himself from thinking on. Most people in Hogwarts, or the wizarding world for that matter, were simply not normal. He felt cold already, simply from looking at her kneel there. It was Zara, the blonde Slythering. His surprise grew, but so did his curiosity; why would one from her house talk to him, one of the Marauders?Gryffindor and Slytherin had been in a feud for hundreds of years, as far as Remus knew, and he was as Gryffindor as you could be.
"Yes, or Remus, actually", he said in his usual, hoarse but calm voice. "I prefer first names, Zara." He was not going to talk to her rudely; that was just not the way he worked. Also, since she had started the conversation, maybe she was not intend on hexing him, or the likes. Moony would not have liked to fight a girl, somebody shorter than him. And not in front of younger students, but he kept his guard up.

Now that she thought about it she had heard people call him Remus and thought that maybe that it was his last name or something, but most the time whenever she heard about him the people talking about him referred to him as Lupin. At least the Slytherin’s did but, she thought to herself, you should always think a Slytherin is using a last name, it makes them feel superior.
”You looked lonely.” Zara started. ”I thought I’d give you some company.” She sat on her knees and smiled. ”Thas is, if you don’t mind my company. I mean, I am a pathetic Slytherin and all.” She let her smile turn into a teasing grin as she sat back onto her bum. It was a bit chilly out but the cold never bothered the blond girl, she liked it a whole lot better than the heat. At least she didn’t sweat when she was cold. She hated sweating, it was unsanitary and another reason why she didn’t like quidditch.

THIS PLACE INSIDE MY MIND A PLACE I LIKE TO HIDE Zara's assumption was so bluntly funny that it made Remus smile a little. Lupin as a first name would actually have been even worse than Remus, or so he thought, but it was by far not the first time that there was a misunderstanding concerning his unusual name. Unusual and quite ironic. "No, Remus is a first name.. you know... Romulus and Remus, founding brothers of Rome?", he said almost hopefully. He only knew one student so far who had immediately known where his weird name was from, and that was Lily Evans. "Remus was killed in the end, and that's why it's called Rome today", he said, closing the book he had been working from politely.
Remus blinked at Zara, feeling almost a little amused. The way she knelt and how she talked to him; all this reminded him of somebody pitying a child. However, he had no intention of letting her notice that he could not put his finger on why she acted the way she did and simply smiled his calm smile. "I can assure you I am not lonely, seeing as I chose to be alone instead of with my friends right now", he said cheerfully. "But neither do I mind your company, nor do I have any prejudices against certain houses." Only against some of their members, he thought, his mind on some Slytherins with particularly strong ambitions to become Death Eaters.

And to add to it he had his facts straight. There’s a first. ”Yeah, they were twins who were supposedly raised by a wolf.” She donned a straight face and stared at him. ”You were raised by a wolf weren’t you? And you have a twin brother who is going to live longer than you and make a county… You are so overshadowed by this twin brother of yours. I’m so sorry, Remus.”
”So mr. raised by a wolf, whose twin overshadows him, what were you working on before I so rudely interrupted you?” Zara quickly casted a look over her shoulder to make sure her essay was exactly where it was left before looking back at the Gryffindor in front of her. ”Because if it’s the herbology essay, you can copy mine. But it’s not all that good so some revising on your part might just get you to pass. Also it's nice to know that neither of us are about to be hexed."

THIS PLACE INSIDE MY MIND A PLACE I LIKE TO HIDE What Zara replied made Remus laugh. She knew the story, that much was evident, and she made fun of him - but in the friendly kind of way, the way that was supposed to amuse the other person. "Yes, I'm afraid that is true. My brother is just so much tougher than me. And our wolf mom doesn't seem to have power over him... she always lets it slip." Once more he was reminded of the irony of his name. Raised by a wolf. A small shudder ran down his spine as he remembered who was going to try and bring him up.
"Not all too rude", he said kindly, and gave Zara a smile. Moony had not really expected the Slytherin girl to be this friendly. He was not exactly considered a strong character by most, although he was a duellant to be afraid of - only, he never duelled most other students. This was why most of all Slytherins liked to try and get one at him when he was alone, not with Sirius or James. Remus, who knew how to defend himself, knew that they tried the same with Peter, and that was much worse; the Marauders shortest member usually did not stand a chance when somebody tried to hex him. "I don't need that essay anymore, thank you. I am doing some week for the next week." And no matter how nice you are, I would never copy your schoolwork.
